FOUNDER’S DAY 1982

I had the special opportunity to creative direct, art direct & design for WKNY's biggest party of the year: Founder's Day. And since it was WK’s 42nd birthday, we knew we had to go big. So we transported the entire agency back to 1982, the year W+K was born, for a corporate-debauchory-filled day. We transformed the front desk at the office, hired a half naked marching band (wolf of wall street anyone?), rented out and decorated a huge venue where Sugar Hill Gang performed, and threw an after party at Silencio, David Lynch's underground club. Even Amanda Lepore made an appearance. The result? A time-traveling blur of hair spray, nylon and impeccable vibes.

WE SHOT A :45 TEASER SET IN 1982, COMPLETE WITH A HAND-PICKED NEW ORDER SOUNDTRACK.

EVERYONE LOOKED F*CKING AMAZING.

WE BASICALLY LAUNCHED A 360 CAMPAIGN IN SIX WEEKS, COMPLETE WITH MULTIPLE TEASERS, A STILL LIFE FLYER, A LOGO & BRAND IDENTITY, MERCH KIT, AN ALL-DAY EXPERIENTIAL EVENT WITH 3 VENUES TOTAL AND AN ICONIC MUSICAL PERFORMANCE, ONE AMANDA LEPORE, AND AN AFTER PARTY AT DAVID LYNCH’S SPOT.

“HI what’s your rate for 400 beepers?”

We originally wanted to get 400 beepers to put inside everyone's merch briefcases, and use that to communicate venue changes and other messages throughout the day. But it turns out those would cost like $80,000. So instead I created these digital beepers and we sent out instructional emails using beeper talk.

Our venue featured 2 different custom-made photo booths: an interactive photo copy machine that spat out black and white "scans", and an interactive cubicle filled with props and decor straight from 1982. I created a still-life flyer for the event using my home scanner, some lipstick, chewing gum, AND SOME COCAINE I FASHIONED OUT OF FLOUR.
